Ultrasound scan
A technique that uses high frequency sound waves to examine internal organs. The
procedure is safe.
Undescended testis
A condition where either one or both testicles are still within the abdominal
cavity. An operation is performed in boys with this condition to correct this.
Men with history of undescended testis may have infertility. They are more
prone to testicular cancer. It is recommended that they undergo screening for
testicular cancer.
Unexplained infertility
It is the term used when routine fertility tests do not detect any abnormality.
It does not necessarily mean that there is no cause for infertility.
Unruptured Luteinised Folli
The term used when a ripen egg is not released from the follicle. The follicle
does not rupture although it is ripe and ready to rupture. It can occur
occasionally in spontaneous cycles. The use of NSAIDs around ovulation can
prevent the release of prostaglandins necessary for ovulation.
